Our Education Philosophy

We gather to meet the educational needs of our scholar-aged youth (ages 12-18) and children (ages 0-12) using Leadership Education. Our purpose is to educate the mind and the heart, developing traits of servant leaders who are “steadfast and immovable, always abounding in good works.” (1 Cor. 15:58)

We invite our children to fall in love with learning through exposure to classic literature, true principles, mentoring, and scholarly examples of parents and peers. Our goal is to develop Vision, Mission, Abilities, Skills and Knowledge in parents and youth through the Scholarship Ladders. We use excellent content to help us in this goal, but the content is the means to the goal, not the end.

We acknowledge the unique greatness of each individual student and structure our classes to follow the natural phases of learning and development.

Lessons of Core Phase (typical age range 0 - 8+):

  • Learn right and wrong, good and bad, true and false

  • Focus on work, play, relationship with God and others

  • Learn family values, identity, history, mission, and spiritual culture

  • Learn family routines and responsibilities

Lessons of Love of Learning Phase (typical age range 8 - 12):

  • Fall deeply in love with learning.

  • Can learn anything through books, projects, friends, etc.

  • All learning is valuable

  • Development of life skills and home management skills

Lessons of Scholar phase (typical age range 12+):

  • Seek knowledge in all the fields

  • Experience breadth and depth of learning

  • Value quality work and show willingness to spend time reworking things

  • Gain skills in writing, speaking, planning, technology, and the arts of citizenship/statesmanship

  • Claim sovereignty over their education, owning responsibilities and stewardships like an adult

Each child is unique and reaches these phases at their own pace.  We believe in inviting and not requiring our children to reach certain phases.  This is not based on age, but instead based on ability.
